The games live at a permanent web address. No ZIP files, no AirDrop, no Files app. You just open the link in Safari on the iPad and add it to the home screen — that's it.
The two games are independent — they each track their own progress and use separate PINs. Progress is saved on the iPad itself and is never sent anywhere.

What the games teach
Both games teach the same 2nd grade language arts skill: the difference between nouns (people, places, and things) and verbs (actions). The games use vocabulary Christian already knows and loves, so the focus stays on the grammar concept rather than unfamiliar words.
Each round is 10 words. A word appears with a short sentence showing it in context — the word is highlighted so he can see how it's being used. He taps THING (noun) or ACTION (verb). He gets instant feedback and earns up to 3 stars per round. No timer, no pressure.
Words that can be both a noun and a verb (like score, catch, battle) appear twice across different rounds — once as a noun with one sentence, once as a verb with a different sentence — so the context always makes the right answer clear.
Step 1 — Add the games to the iPad home screen
Do this once on the iPad. It takes under two minutes and turns each game into a full-screen icon — no browser address bar, looks like a real app.

Scroll down in the Share sheet and tap "Add to Home Screen."

The name will show as Word Champ. Tap Add in the top-right corner.
The Sports Word Champ icon now appears on the iPad home screen. Christian taps it to open the game full-screen with no browser chrome.

Setting up your Parent View PIN
Each game has its own PIN-protected progress dashboard. The first time you open Parent View in each game, you'll be asked to create a 4-digit PIN. Write them both down here:

To open Parent View: tap the small "Parent View" link at the bottom of the welcome screen (or the round-end screen). Enter your PIN. Tap "← Home" to return to the game.
If you forget a PIN: Go to iPad Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → find the game entry and delete it. This resets the PIN but also erases all session history. There is no other recovery method.
What the dashboard shows — and what it means
Metric
What to look for
Sessions Played
How often he's practiced. Even 2–3 sessions a week builds the habit well.
Stars Earned
His running total. Good for reward milestones ("at 30 stars we'll…").
Avg Accuracy
Overall % correct across all sessions. 70%+ is solid for a 2nd grader starting out.
Last Session
How he did most recently. Compare to the average to see if he's improving.
Nouns vs. Verbs bars
If one bar is noticeably shorter, that concept needs more attention. Verbs are often harder — action words can feel like things.
Words to Practice
The specific words he's missed most. Use them in conversation: "Is tackle a thing or something you do?"
Session History
Every round listed newest-first, color-coded: green (80%+), orange (60–79%), red (below 60%). A few reds early is normal.
Trend message
Appears after 4+ sessions. Tells you in plain language if he's improving, dipping, or holding steady.
Tips for getting the most out of it
Short and regular beats long and rare. One round (3–4 minutes) a day is more effective than a long session once a week.
Play together sometimes. Sit with him for a round — let him explain why he chose THING or ACTION. Saying it out loud reinforces it.
Use the "Words to Practice" list. Slip a tricky word into conversation at dinner: "Did you battle anything hard at school today?" Then ask — is battle a thing or an action?
Celebrate streaks, not just scores. The game shows "🔥 3 in a row!" — worth a high five even if the final score is modest.
Don't worry about red sessions early on. The first few rounds are him learning the game. Look at the trend after 6–8 sessions.
Switch games to stay fresh. If he's losing interest in one theme, switch to the other for a few days.
Good sign to watch for: Verb accuracy catching up to noun accuracy. Most kids find nouns easier (things are concrete). When his verb score approaches his noun score, that's real growth.
Important notes about data & privacy
Progress stays on this iPad. Scores, stars, and session history are saved inside Safari's storage on the iPad itself — nothing is sent to any server. If Christian plays on a different device or browser, it starts fresh with no history.
Internet is needed to open the games (they load from the web), but once loaded the game plays normally even if the connection drops mid-session.
Do not clear Safari's history or website data while actively tracking his progress. This is found at: iPad Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data. Doing so will erase all stars and session history for both games.
The two games track separately. Stars and history in Sports Word Champ have no connection to Ninja Word Master — each has its own dashboard and PIN.
If the games are updated (new words added etc.), Christian will get the update automatically next time he opens the app — no action needed from you.
